Every cricketing country has heroes, players who are so good, so talented and have done so much for their country's cricket team that the people of that country always talk about them with respect. Take someone like Sachin Tendulkar, he is like a god to the people of India, that's how great he is. Take Steve Waugh, he is arguably the best captain that Austrlia has produced and all Aussies love him.
The Pakistan cricket team is no different, we also have people who we respect and who have done great things for our cricket team. Here are my "Fantastic Four" for Pakistan. Please keep in mind that this article is based on solely my opinion.
Imran Khan
Ok, this was a no brainer, ask any Pakistani cricket fan/player about their idol and their reply will be "Imran Khan" about 90% of the time, with 3807 runs and 362 wickets in test cricket, and 3709 runs and 182 wickets in ODIs, he is considered one of the greatest all-rounders of all time. He will also be forever remembered by his countrymen for leading Pakistan to their first World Cup victory in 1992.
Wasim Akram
With 502 ODI wickets to his name, he is the 2nd wicket taker in this version of cricket. He also played a vital role in Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup victory, and captained the side when it made the 1999 World Cup final. He is known as the best left arm fast bowler the game has ever produced, he was a master in reverse swing bowling and along with another bowler Waqar Younis he formed one of the best new ball pair that terrorized batsmen for year to come.
Inzamam-Ul-Haq
With 11,739 ODI runs and over 8000 runs in test matches, Inzamam, big man or Inzi as he is known among fans he is one of Pakistan’s most successful batsmen. He is known for his tremendous ability to bat under pressure and has also been responsible for leading Pakistan to memorable victories. He will be remembered for his contributions in the 1992 World Cup when he almost single handedly rescued Pakistan in their semi-final match against New Zealand.
Shahid Afridi
About Afridi it can safely be said that cricket never has and never will see another like him. He is the current captain of Pakistan's limited overs side and has a couple of years still left in his career. He debuted at the tender age of 16 and in his 2nd ODI he smashed 100 runs of just 37 deliveries, the fastest century ever made. Just think about that for a second. With 6511 runs in 309 ODIs and 289 wickets to go with he could be Pakistan's next best all-rounder after Imran Khan.
It's a good very article; but it only applicable on one version of the game (ODI).I still believe the two greats are missing from this list. As this is not a hidden fact that the pinnacle of cricket is test cricket and Pakistan's test cricket can't be completed without the names of Javed Maindad and Muhammad Yousaf ...
