The curious case of Alam!

Fawad Alam is another one of Pakistan's new breed batsman. A left handed batsman whose batting stance is quite similar to the Australian opener Simon Katich i-e shuffling across the stumps. This guy has impressed in his short career, one thing about him is that his hunger to occupy the crease is insatiable. However if you observe his performances, you'll come to know that he is the type of player who is good for longer formats of the game i-e test matches because he needs a while to settle in before going on to make a big score. You can see that because he scored 168 in his debut test against Srilanka.

However the PCB is refraining from including him in the test, yet they include him in Twenty20, which is a format that he is not made for because he is not a person that can hit big shots like required in Twenty20 and like I said he takes his time to settle in whereas in Twenty20 you need players who are quick and can settle in quickly.

A guy who scored a test hundred on debut and that too on away soil is being ignored for the test squad after only letting him play about 3 tests. Where is the logic in that? Surely the PCB is just playing stupid.
