Pakistan team went into bat after winning toss, the world cup semi finalists were without their full-time captain Shahid Afridi, his deputy Misbahul Ha, spin magician Saeed Ajmal and rookie pacer Sadaf Hussain in the game.
Led by Mohammad Hafeez, Pakistan managed to score 287/8 in allocated 50 overs, with a brilliant captain’s knock by Hafeez who returned to pavilion only after being retired with 101 runs against his name.
Middle order batsman Umar Akmal also had a good time with bat, he scored unbeaten 57 runs, Ahmad Shahzad scored 49 runs to register his return to form while opener Taufiq Umar made 44 runs.
Chasing 288 to win, the home side was restricted to 219/8 in 50 overs, spinner Abdur Rehman took four wickets to push the opponents on back foot. Wajab Riaz, Tanvir Ahmad and Junaid Khan took one wicket each.
Pakistan team’s manager Intekhab Alam termed the victory as confidence booster ahead of the “important” series against West Indies.
“I think the youngsters player really well, this is an ideal start of tour for us and I am confident that team will continue its winning streak against West Indies,” Intekhab said.
Pakistan will take on West Indies in only T20 game of the tour on 21st April.
