Pakistan wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider fled to London fearing for his life. The drama began shortly before Pakistan were supposed to play South Africa in the deciding match of their ODI series, when it was found that Zulqarnain had not travelled with the squad to the ground. He was later found at Heathrow airport in UK and according to some source he has fled to England and is seeking asylum there in fear of his life.
Zulqarnain told friends on Sunday he was planning to leave following a text informing him Pakistan should have lost the game. He scored a crucial 19 not out, including the winning run with a ball to spare, in the series-squaring victory. Rumors grew that he would pay the price for his failure to ensure a prearranged defeat, policemen were sent to protect his family back in Pakistan.
