Tanvir Ahmed--Just another one of Pakistan's bowlers who impresses

Pakistan has always been known as the team to produce quality bowlers. Just think about it. Imran Khan, Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Sarfaraz Nawaz Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammed Amir, Mohammed Asif, Saqlain Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmed, Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Qadir were and are all with immense amount of talent and they are are all Pakistanis and were known for troubling batsmen all around the world. The list goes on and on but I think you guys get the what I am trying to say.

Now in the 2nd test in Dubai of the Cool & Cool Test Series between South Africa and Pakistan, there has been new bowler who impressed in his debut right from his first over by reducing SA to 33/3, again proving the talent that exist in Pakistan in the bowling department. He ran as Pakistan's oldest debutant new ball bowler (partnering with Umar Gul), a heavy action and a grunt at release and did precisely that. Immediately he became the sixth Pakistani to take a wicket in the first over and a typical scalp too, full, searching for swing, finding an edge. A month shy of his 32nd birthday, he was an unlikely hero. I am sure you guys know who I am talking about now, it’s Tanvir Ahmed. Let’s talk a little bit about him.

Tanvir Ahmed to my surprise was not born in Pakistan, he was in-fact born in Kuwait city. He shot to the limelight in domestic circles when he became the leading wicket-taker in 2009-10 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with 85 wickets at an impressive average of 17.12. His contribution was more than valuable as it helped Karachi Blues lift the trophy for the eighth time. Since his debut in 1998-99, Tanvir has represented several Karachi teams and has also played for Sind and Baluchistan.
Almost 32 years old his inclusion might seem a bit odd and he might now be the one who we'll see around for a very long time but one thing is certain, this guy is good! You can see that because he finished with the match figures of 28-6-120-6 and that too in his very first test. More over if he impresses he might be included in Pakistan's plans for the W.C because right now we are not sure Mohammed Amir will play in the W.C and in his absence we will obviously need a bowler who is just as good as Amir.
